Plumtree Park - Bel Air MD

Spotlight on Plumtree Park

By Rebecca Brumbaugh, Publisher of Macaroni KID Bel Air MD March 26, 2024

Plumtree Park in Bel Air MD is a perfectly sized playground for young families.  This playground is located right in the middle of Bel Air close to the mall but hidden away in the quiet of the community.  We visited this playground during spring break on a beautiful sunny day and it was not overcrowded at all.  We saw a few other families enjoying the beautiful weather but we felt like we had the park to ourselves.  This was a new to us playground and we loved every minute of our trip.

Plumtree Park includes three separate play areas fit for a variety of ages.  The smallest playground was great for my youngest who is just under 2.  It has small slides, a captains wheel (which we used to play pirates) and rock like steps that gave me time to sit on a bench while my 1 year old tested out her skills.  There were also swings located next to the small children's play area and animals on springs to bounce on.  The larger play areas include lots of options for climbing, facing obstacles, and sliding.  My kids loved the large rock like structure that they could climb and sit on top.  There are also rock wall structures for both older and younger children.  Next time we will bring lunch because there are picnic tables and benches throughout the playground.

This smaller sized playground is located at 323 Thomas St, Bel Air MD 21014.  There is a large field located directly next to the playground for children to run around and play.  Next time we will bring a soccer or kickball to chase around the field.  There is also a basketball court with two hoops, which was being enjoyed by a few elementary to middle school aged children, so bring your older kids and let them play ball while the younger children enjoy the playground.  There are no restrooms of any kind available on site, but we do keep a children's potty tucked away in our car for potty emergencies.

This playground was the perfect size to visit with my three children ages ranging between 1 and 6 without the support of an additional parent.  I am marking this one as a 1-parent playground, but obviously more help is never turned away.  Make sure you add Plumtree Park to your list of playgrounds to visit!  I will share more photos on Facebook and Instagram, so follow along with me!
