Is your child struggling with reading? At Ready, Set, Read, they help students overcome reading difficulties and create success at school by teaching foundational skills. Their teachers deliver instruction explicitly and systematically so that every student can reach their fullest potential.
Jennifer, the owner/founder, is a certified elementary teacher and special educator who specializes in working with those who are impacted by language-based learning differences. She has experience teaching in private and public school settings as well as higher education prior to founding Ready, Set, Read.
Ready, Set, Read uses the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach to reading instruction. The OG program was designed to help students with learning differences, such as dyslexia, however it is beneficial to all individuals who need help learning to read.
What does the OG approach look like?
- Explicit – Skills are explicitly explained and modeled by the teacher.
- Systematic & Sequential – Skills build on each other in a logical way; starting from easier skills and building into more complex skills.
- Multiple Opportunities to Practice – The student sets the pace. The student has as many opportunities to practice as needed for mastery of skills.
- Multi-Sensory – Visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic techniques are utilized to maximize student engagement and learning.
- Prescriptive & Diagnostic – Teachers build lessons and programs to address the needs of the individual student.
